What you didn't know about the adorable Sasha Cohen
Thanks to Blackfive, I love her even more! She supports our troops by supporting Soldier's Angels. What a gal. U.S.A. all the way!!
For those that don't know, the women's competition begins this evening!
And from our buddies from Great Britain:
Bobsleigh Driver's Olympic Dream
"LEE Johnston, a Lympstone-based Royal Marine, is gunning-for-gold as a member of the British bobsleigh team at the Winter Olympics. The 33-year-old, based at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines Lympstone, is the driver of the British four-man and two-man bobsleigh teams at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
An up-beat Lee said: "I would love to come home with an Olympic medal."
The course in Turin is a real white-knuckle ride with 19-bends and speeds up to 75mph.
Lee added: "Being the driver of the bobsleigh requires a lot of mental preparation. At the start line, when I hit the sleigh and run with it, I have to be very aggressive. Then, when I jump into it, I need to be as relaxed as possible."
It will be Lee's third Winter Olympics - he came 20th in the two-man bob and was in the four-man team that scooped a bronze at Nagano, Japan, in 1998.
He also competed in the 2002 games at Salt Lake City - he came 14th in the four-man bob and 10th in the two-man bob."
BBC interview with Johnston - though this says he's in Taunton right now, (not right now right now, obviously he's in Italy) not Lympstone. Which is a huge difference if you ask any Marine.
I'm an avid Olympics-watcher, always go for the United States athletes first, and this time around I've added Great Britain and Denmark to my fun sitting-on-the-edge-of-my-chair-holding-my-breath-while-screaming-at-the-television routine. It's always exciting to find new people to root for, especially when it's the underdog!!
hey! I just blogged about this today! I didnt know you were already on the case...
