Royal is in his second week of some very important (well, it's ALL important, but this is also really cool, I wish I could say!) training, second out of eight to ten weeks. He has the first training test this weekend, if you don't pass they send you home. There is no way he's being sent home, this boy is an excellent Marine and LOVES what he's doing. I'm so proud of him.
Now for the fun part! Coordinating schedules :o) Always a blast. The RM Commandos receive Easter leave, it may not contain Easter, but they get two weeks somewhere. Apparently they're promised Easter, Summer, and Christmas leave when they sign their RM contracts. I have Uni classes, so I can't go visit him (we only get one stinkin' day for Easter). So, Royal calls me up about a week ago and tells me this, "If I fail this test coming up, then I'll be out there on this date in late March, and if I don't then I'll be out there in early April." Oh wow. This means he can't book a plane ticket until next week either way, which gives him about one day to buy/receive/pack/get to the airport (a 2 1/2 to 3 hour bus ride) OR gives him about 5-ish days to buy/receive/pack/whatnot. And let's hope there is a flight available ~ haha.
To make everyone a little less stressed, he's so busy we've barely been talking these two weeks AND he has no access to the internet! I wouldn't mind so much, because I know this training is SO important to him and he needs to spend his extra time studying, but it's harder to make any plans. Welcome to military life, eh!? We think he might have one day off the first weekend in April, so that'll help.
Doesn't matter how or where I see him, just as long as I see him! We're extremely excited about this trip because it's the least amount of time we've ever been apart (longest is just short of 6 months, second longest is 5 1/2 months, shortest thus far is just over 4 months).
Hopefully, there will be another 2 weeks of light blogging for me in the near future!!
Welcome to Military life is so true. I'm not going to lie and say it gets better because it doesn't. Hubby is going to be away a lot over the next 9weeks. We are suppose to move in June something tells me thats not going to happen.

I know, I know. I'm glad you're straight up with me, no use making anything a fairy tale ;o) It's not easy, it's very difficult, sometimes I think talking so little is worse than not talking at all (not that I'd give it up.).
I'm sorry to hear yours will be gone a lot, hope you and the kids have some good times together! Wishing you the best :o)

My sister has been married for three years, but her husband has been in Iraq for 20 months in that time. I think he's done now, tho, and he can pick any assignment he wants.

Your sister sounds like a strong woman, I'm glad they're catching a break now! You can thank them both for me and my family
