Taking a break from the 'Story of two banks' series,
I present to you our little puppy, Rio!
Royal and I had known we were going to get a puppy when we were settled in here, to hang out with me when Royal was deployed - it was to be our wedding present to each other. We searched the classified ads (they don't sell puppies in pet shops here, but even if they did we wanted to buy from a breeder or family home) and went thinking we were going to pick up the little black female pup.
But, we got there and there was this little male pup who was a little shy, but such a cuddle bug.
He stole our hearts.
Over the past month and a half, we've noticed he he has some interesting habits.
He chases his tail. A lot.
He gnaws the paint off the wall. Somehow he actually uses his tiny pup teeth to carefully extract a small piece of the paint off of our walls. It's amazing is what it is.
He likes to lay on his back and, as Royal just put it, "flashes his bits to everyone."
And he always has to be cuddled up to you:
Awwwwww.
We named him Rio thanks to my parents. I wanted something to remind me of home - Rio means River in Spanish.
wait wait wait.
you wanted something to remind you of home, so you gave him a SPANISH name?
smooth.

haha, yeah I've lived near the Mexican border all my life! Took my 3 years of Espanol in high school - I slide Mexican words in my sentences all the time. I've even got Royal doing it now (and when I met him, he knew NO Spanish!).
Plus, it follows in my tradition of naming my dogs after John Wayne movies = ex. Rio Bravo, Rio Grande, Rio Lobo. Or, after characters in John Wayne movies.
And THAT, my friend, reminds me of home :o)

He looks as if he's known you forever. He also looks like a great stress reliever - apart from the occasional wall biting stress he may create. A real sweetie!
