The following video is actual video from a Royal Marine Commando in Afghanistan. The first three minutes are intense fighting, (though you can't really see much, just hear) then the cameraman gets a big surprise - one you'll definitely want to see! The remaining time is priceless. To warn, does contain the language you hear in battle.
Thanks to BB who left this article in the comments!
I love the way these guys remain calm, it's something I truly admire in soldiers. I certainly hope it was 'just a flesh wound'.
The best lines are : "It passed through his ass!" immediately followed by "Alright, sit down, sit down" (and he does!)
and, of course
"I got shot in the ass!" immediately followed by laughter. It's great to hear them laugh.
Those bootnecks (Royal Marines) are tough sons of bitches and I'm proud to be married to one!
(pardon my french!)
It really is a fascinating video.
The dialogue might be a bit hard on the ears for anyone not used to how real British people actually talk, but it is worth watching right to the end.

Seeing as how I seem to have nominated you as my favourite milblogger, here's another story that might interest you - http://reactionarysnob.blogspot.com/2007/05/gurkhas.html
Shocking.

BB: Favourite eh, consider me flattered! I had seen that article and it breaks my heart. Royal has spent time with the gurkhas and considers them excellent soldiers. Truly a disgrace on the part of the government, Tul Bahadur Pun is an absolute hero! Britain (and America) would be better off with men and women like him.
Really appreciate you sending this my way!
Pat: YEAH, very much so!
