Christopher Lambert in the 1986 Highlander film. I've never seen it, but the guy is French so I can imagine. Second place goes to Mel Gibson for (what else?) Braveheart. 27% thought he was the worst ever. Robin Williams for Mrs. Doubtfire came in third with 16% of the vote.
To put a funny point on it, many of the votes had to be thrown out because they nominated Sean Connery. Who is Scottish. Just in case... you know, you missed it.
The survey quizzed 1,700 Scots in late 2007.
Jeremy Angel, director of AsWornIn.com, said: "An American audience is typically unaware of just how wide of the mark many of these attempts at Scottish accents are. It seemed entirely logical to ask the Scots how they rate these half-baked attempts to imitate their accent."
The great and wonderful thing about Britain is their incredible amount of accents - just the actual British, I mean (not Indian, Polish and on). They've got Scouse, Geordie, Jock (Scottish), Brummie, Cockney, etc. And that's just a few!
Make fun if you will, but before meeting Royal I had no reason to think about the thousand different accents within another country.
When I'm with Royal, I love to guess at the accents and I'm ALWAYS wrong. He thinks it's quite funny. I did okay with the difference between Glasgow Scots and Edinburgh Scots - very different! And I'm pretty good with Manchester, don't ask me why. A small victory for me.
as a fan of the highlander tv show, let me assure you that the movies - all of them - were horrible. christopher lambert was awful
