Royal Marine Commando Corporal Adam Rundle and his father grappled with and held for police a neighbor's intruder.
Adam Rundle, 28, was on leave at his parents' home when terrified neighbour Ross Goodwin, 21, rang for help after an intruder broke into his house. Without hesitation, the strapping corporal - who has served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kosovo - stormed into the property to tackle the crook.
With the help of his father Malcolm, 57, the pair quickly located the burglar and held him for 20 minutes until police arrived. His s [sic] actions led to the arrest of Steven Hommell, 41, who has now been jailed for nearly four years.
That is the coolest. Not only that, but Corporal Rundle insists that he's not the hero - for that you'll need to meet his mates in Iraq and Afghanistan.
But modest Adam insists he was simply being a "good neighbour" - and that his colleagues in Iraq and Afghanistan were the "real heroes". He said:
"I was just back home visiting my parents for the weekend so I wasn't expecting to be facing a conflict situation. "It was a bit different to what I'm normally faced with in a war zone - he wasn't shooting at me for a start. "But I used techniques that we learn in our basic training to restrain the assailant, which are very effective. "He put up a fight but I thought he was a toe-rag. There was no way I was going to let him go. "For me, it's just one of those things. I was a bit apprehensive, but not scared."
Well done guys, and Corporal: Keep your head down when you go back!
