It's been a while since I've posted because...
I've been in Britain with hubby! It'd been about 19 months since Royal had seen his family - almost two full years since I've been back - so we took off for England & Wales for two lovely weeks. I've got a couple of posts lined out in my mind, but we'll start with one of my favorite pastimes: food photography!
Some people like to whine about British food, but not me! I love it! Cream teas, roast potatoes, double cream, lovely meat pies, full English breakfasts as far as the eye could see... sigh! I could go on.
This was the first and best meal I had while in Britain. Sweet chili chicken with sour cream and British cheddar on a bed of white rice and zucchini. It was luscious. It was perfect. It was an off the cuff meal at the first place we stayed!
Breakfast the next morning. My first full English of the trip. Perfect egg, beans, bacon, sausage and toast with orange juice and tea. I am totally anti mushroom so Royal took mine. I'm not a big fan of HP sauce, but on this occasion I added a little to my meat.
Chocolate cake with double cream! I admit to going a little overboard with my cream on this one, but it was heavenly anyway.
My second breakfast was made by Royal (he's an excellent cook!).
A friend we were visiting suggested a trip to Starbucks and I got a strawberry cupcake and a water. Yum.
My very first Indian take out! My Dad is not a fan of most Indian dishes (there are some that he enjoys, but for the most part) so it was not a usual thing for me growing up. I'm more of a Mexican/Asian/Italian person. Royal's sister suggested Indian one night and I jumped at the chance!
Clockwise starting with the Naan bread: Peshwari Naan, Naan, Lamb Bhuna, Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka (I think, that one could be wrong) and a vegetable dish they threw in for free. I found that I really only liked the chicken korma and the naans. The chicken tikka was okay, as was the vegetable thing, but I wouldn't order it. I did NOT like the lamb, though the sauce was nice.
I can't wait to have chicken korma again!
This was a homemade meal - with love - from my husband's Mum. Royal ADORES belly pork. I can't stand the stuff. Waaaay too much fatty gristle! She made a whole belly pork for Royal, the rest of us had lovely pork chops with pepper gravy (no photo, sadly). Royal cleaned the plate!
A sweet shop my sister in law said we just had to visit - she was right! I took two of the chocolate mice and one owl home with me.
Another special meal, this time made by Royal's Nan on our visit with her. It's a beef and mushroom pie with an added bonus -- she made a buffalo for us in the pastry! Although it kinda looks more like a longhorn - or the devil! We all had a good laugh over that one.
Drinks out with some friends in Wales. They look so refreshing!
There you have it, my most recent trip to Britain in food!
