Royal and I have friends in Wales - friends who came all the way to the U.S. for our wedding! - so we planned a day to go visit. I've been to England, Ireland, & Scotland but Wales was new - perfect! Off we go...
I started to get bored during the drive so out came the camera -- just in time to snap the "Fresh Pet Meat Daily" sign. Wha...? Okay, okay. Obviously I realize they aren't selling pet meat for human consumption but...
One of the Severn Bridges - I'm sorry to say at this point I'm not sure which one - the 1966 or the 1996 version.
We are so in.
First stop of the day was St. Fagans National History Museum. Very cool. Would recommend this to anyone visiting - great for kids as well. The best part was the beautiful short stretches of Welsh countryside in between the exhibits. You just knew you were somewhere special, out with nature.
View looking down from the castle house.
Sweet designs.
From the gardens.
Inside one of the houses. The only place we went into that you couldn't take photographs was the castle house. And another thing, St. Fagan's is FREE.* FREE! All this awesomeness and history for FREE.
The Great War.
Yup, been there.
I loved these statues!
Ah, back to England. Really fantastic day! Thanks, friends.
* By free I mean free for tourists. Apparently the hard working Welsh people pay taxes to support the national museums so that they are "free" for everyone. Just wanted to clarify that.
If you had looked way to your left going over the bridge you would have seen our environs. We are sort of opposite Cardiff.
Not in Wales I hasten to say:)
